Every cell is a hexagon cut into three rhombi and ruled with bands that widen steadily across each face. Where the bands of a face run straight through, the surface reads as the outside of a block; where they mitre on the diagonal instead, it folds and the block opens up. The cells are turned at random in sixths and piled rather than tiled, so the same vocabulary reads as a stack of solids in one corner and as flat ornament in the next — the heap never settles into one reading.
